Amber is an award-winning writer, musician and sound designer, primarily making noises as Tin Can Audio.
After starting out as a bass player in the 2010s music scene in Scotland, at one point being a full-time busker with a loop pedal and a six string bass, they eventually moved into the quieter world of sound design and music composition, initially in film before finding a home in podcasting and audio storytelling. They are the creator of the audio fiction concept album The Tower, and the producer of fantasy series Camlann. Amber has also made audio stories for BBC Radio 4's Short Cuts and QueerAF for their Trans+ History Week initiative (most notably a documentary on Wendy Carlos and the history of trans electronic musicians). They've also made music for Doctor Who: Redacted, and currently edit and sound design for Campside Media's Infamous and Sony's This Is History. They have also composed original music for the TTRPG games Upriver Downriver, Pitcrawler and The Deepest Dark.
In 2024 Amber was awarded Composer of the Year at the UK Audio Network Awards, as well as Silver for Best Sound Design Producer at the Audio Production Awards.
They spend most of their time surrounded by computers, synthesizers and tape machines to keep them warm during the long Glasgow winters.
